Scavenger Hunt Assignment #4

7)Fronds: Fronds are leaves with several divisions to it. This plant in my front yard is an example of a frond. The leaves that come out of the plant have several differnt divisions to it.

6)Endotherm- An endotherm is an organism that is capable of maintaining a constant body temperature. This is a picture of my dog. He is an endotherm because he maintains a constant body temperature.

5)Autotroph- An autotroph is an organism that is able to build all the complex organic molecules that it requires as it's own food source. This plant is an autotroph because it produces it's food from sun light and water through the a process of photosynthesis.

Scavenger Hunt Assignment #4


4)Enzyme: An Enzyme is a protein that can speed up a chemical reaction. They act as catalysts. This picture of my dog rocky shows enzymes at work. The redish orange color around his mouth and near his nose is because of an enzyme. In my dogs saliva is a specific enzyme. This enzyme changes the color of his fur.

3)Cuticle: The cuticle is the fatty or waxy, noncellular layer on the outer wall of the epidermis. The epidermis is the outer layer of the plant which is usually seen and the cuticle is a layer that covers the epidermis.

2)Ectotherm: Ectotherms are animals whose body temperature is affected by the temperature in their environment or by their behavior. Usually the animals are reptiles or anphibians. This is a picture of my turtle. He is a ectotherm because his body temperature is affected by the temperature around him.

1) Anther: The anther is the male reproductive part of the plant that produces pollen in a flowering plant. The little stems coming out of the flower are the anthers and the pollen that it produces is in the yellow tip of the stems.
